Thomas E. Stewart

Mr. Stewart, President of Inform Public Relations, has been actively involved in public relations since 1983. In 1987, he formed Inform Public Relations. Mr. Stewart has been providing community, governmental and media relations to numerous industrial and public sector clients throughout Contra Costa County and the Bay Area for over 15 years.

Primary areas of expertise include public participation, project advocacy, strategy development, managing environmental issues, coordinating controversial land use projects and crisis communications. Related areas of activity for his clients include marketing and advertising. His relevant experience includes:

Land Use and Development Projects

Involved in numerous controversial projects, involving commercial and residential development, site remediation and reuse, and solid and hazardous waste facility siting. Activities have included interaction with state and local agencies, development and implementation of public participation programs, and media relations. He focuses on creating and implementing successful project approval strategies by identifying community issues and creating innovative community outreach programs to address those issues.

Issues Management

Assisting public and private sector clients address challenging situations affecting their image, such as rebuilding communication and trust following a major industrial incident, creating forums to identify and resolve community concerns, and building stakeholder relationships. Experienced in working with the media, community groups and elected officials, he assists clients in creating strategic partnerships with the communities in which they exist, thereby fostering mutually beneficial solutions.

Community Advisory Panels

Working with local industries, he has established six community advisory panels throughout the Bay Area, currently serving as facilitator for a two panels and oversees facilitators for the other panels.

Advertising and Marketing

Working with a variety of consulting firms (including engineering, legal, accounting and health support services), on the development and implementation of marketing plans and advertising strategies. Activities have included identification of target clients and available resources, as well as the development of collateral materials such as brochures, newsletters, direct mail and advertisements.

Marina A. Gottschalk

Ms. Gottschalk has extensive experience as a writer having been a reporter for a major daily newspaper for more than 20 years, she covered a variety of assignments which required an assortment of writing styles. Her media experience has provided her with a knowledge and understanding of the political process at the local, regional and state level.

In the area of waste management, she wrote, edited and co-designed the 1995-1996 Contra Costa County Recycling and Waste Reduction Guide, a directory of services about recycling and waste reduction for county residents.

With Inform Public Relations, she has written newsletters, brochures, facts sheets and stories for and about clients. She has also planned, prepared and coordinated major community events for both the public and private sector.

Additionally, Ms. Gottschalk facilitates the Bay Point Community Advisory Panel.

Ms. Gottschalk has a degree in Language Arts.


Vi Bashian Cooper

Ms. Cooper is a successful business journalist and public relations professional with extensive experience and education. Most recently, as editor of the Martinez News-Gazette, she had complete responsibility for news and feature content, editorial direction, supervision of staff, Ms. Cooper has written or been the editor of several national industrial and business publications.

As assistant bureau chief for McGraw-Hill, Inc. in Cleveland, Ms. Cooper was responsible for tri-state coverage of business activity in such industries as steel, metalworking, rubber, chemical, construction and electronics for 32 national journals, including Business Week, Chemical Week and Engineering News-Record

As senior editor for Appliance Manufacturer, Ms. Cooper originated prize-winning, comprehensive feature reports for the trade magazine with 36,000 national subscribers. While with the publication, she was also a member of the National Technical Committee. She was a senior editor with Trade Publishing Co. in Honolulu, Hawaii, and covered the construction industry in that state for Building Industry Digest.
